Pop-Psychology Myths

A new book called 50 Great Myths of Pop Psychology exposes many of the myths that have pervaded public consciousness to become regarded as fact. Some of the ones I knew about, but it covers so many including the myth that opposites attract and that we use only 10 per cent of our brain power.

Modern culture is full of examples of falsely accepted beliefs and the world of psychology is full of them. Somewhat worryingly they are found in books and other sources that should know better, but with so much knowledge coming from society it's not a shock to discover this much misinformation.

TV, websites, movies, magazines and everyday conversation are full of them. The books author Scott Lilienfeld explores the gulf between the truth and popular opinion. It has me wondering how much I really know and how much I simply take for granted.
