New centre to look at brain function

A new centre for brain study at Yale that has attracted over $25 million in funding form the US National Institutes of Health, will study the traits of the brain that are regarded as purely human.

Founders of the centre hope that it will lead to new treatments for many forms of mental illness autism, depression and bipolar disorders. The Yale centre will also look to create an "atlas" of the human brain as well as getting to the root of genetic puzzles surrounding the evolution of intelligence.
